your School Bus
  


CODE OF CONDUCT FOR SCHOOL STUDENTS ON BUSES
Behave safely at all times.
Respect the needs and comfort of other passengers.
Behave appropriately at all times
Use of offensive language, fighting, spitting, placing feet on seats or throwing things in or from the bus is forbidden.
Protect bus property and report any vandalism.
Show their travel passes or tickets to the driver on boarding and when requested.
Only use the travel pass for its intended purpose.
Maintain possession of the travel pass at all times.
Follow the driver's instructions about safety on the bus (e.g. instructions on where to sit).
Adhere to the law that bans smoking on buses.
Only eat or drink (other than water) on the bus with the written permission of the bus operator.
Keep arms, legs and other parts of their bodies inside the bus.
Only attract the attention of the driver in the case of an emergency.
Always . . .
Stand on the Footpath, away from the road while you are waiting for the School Bus.
Wait until the Bus has fully stopped and the doors have been opened by the driver.
Sit quietly on the bus at all times to and from School.
Wait until the bus has fully left the stop before you cross the road.
Walk away from the bus for a clear view of the road and traffic before crossing the road.

If you have to cross the road . . .

Wait . . .      On the footpath until the Bus has left the stop . . .
then find the safest place you can to cross the road. Always look for the nearest Pedestrian Crossing.
Watch . . .   Up and down the road and make sure there are no cars coming. Before you cross the road be sure all cars have stopped for you, even if you are on a Pedestrian Crossing.
Walk . . .     Straight across the road - NEVER RUN!
When you are crossing a road with an adult you should always hold their hand.
