HIGH RISE FIRE SAFETY

Never lock doorways or fire exits, stairways or halls.
Fire doors are designed to slow the progress of the fire and smoke, they also provide a way out in the event of a fire.
Study the evacuation plans for your building. Make sure your entire family knows what to do if the fire alarm should sound. Practise your escape plan.
Building evacuation plans should be placed in high traffic areas, such as foyers or lobbies.
Know the sound of your building's alarm and be sure you have emergency numbers handy.
Enquire about who is responsible for maintaining your buildings fire and smoke alarm systems. Report any damage or fault to the buildings management.
Never assume somebody else has called the Fire Brigade.
Call the emergency 000 number, you will be asked questions regarding the emergency, stay calm and give any information clearly.
